Normann Copenhagen designs for new markets

Contract furniture market to ensure contined growth

An impressive growth of app. 40 percent a year has been usual for Normann Copenhagen's during the last couple of years.

So far, furniture from the company has established itself in Nordic home furniture market, but now the design company is ready to make an entry into the contract furniture market where the interest is increasing. Especially at trade fairs, such as Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair, presented significant new interest from interior designers and other buyers in the contract market.

The new venture will focus on Normann Copenhagen's famous designs at first. The Form-chairs - the well-known shells with or without padding - and as well as existing tables.

Till now Normann Copenhagen's furniture has designed for the home, but it may be altered, says Poul Madsen, CEO of Normann Copenhagen. "Normann will start considering furniture that can fit in both markets, or you can say: Normann will develop furniture for the contract market, which may also be suitable for homes."

In general, Poul Madsen sees an openning of borders which were previously closed. "The furniture contract market is increasingly demanding something that is not as formal as contract furniture has traditionally been."

"When I looked from our perspective, the market has taken our style to heart. The public areas, are increasingly homely and comfortable. The same applies to canteens and schools. It's no longer just about price and comfort, but also homeliness and texture." Poul Madsen rounds off.
