Timo Niskanen made persistence pay off

Winning prizes is excellent branding and it reflects recognition from qualified juries. But does it pave the way to commercial markets?

Timo Niskanen won a price for the design of his prototype of LOOP already in 2009 at Milan Design Week. But in spite of the immediate recognition, LOOP has awaited its market launch. The challenge was finding a producer who could live up to the technical requirements for production of the lamp. But this year LOOP has finally become a commercial product in the Himmee range.

The inspiration for the minimalistic lamp came to Timo Niskanen on a winter night, when he saw a loop obstacle sticking out from the snow on a miniature golf course. The form became the basic form of the lamp, and now design buyers can enjoy the result of design inspiration – and persistence.
