Bruunmunch and Illums Bolighus are in a relationship

The Boah sofa is an exclusive piece of furniture, chosen to mark 75 years of Illums Bolighus - and this is only the beginning

About a year ago, Jacob Munch of Bruunmunch invited Bo Overgaard, head of furniture at Illums Bolighus, and Anders Haaning, the manager of the Copenhagen branch, to dinner at restaurant Lama in Copenhagen.

That is where the owners of Bruunmunch, Jacob Munch and Henrik Bruun, proposed to Illums Bolighus - in the shape of a sofa.

Bruunmunch wanted to create a sofa, exclusive to Illums Bolighus, sold in stores world wide, as a starting point of future teamwork between the two firms, in a very competitive market.

The designing efforts of Bo Overgaard and Anders Haaning, combined with the craftsmanship and quality in execution of Bruunmunch, resulted in a 3-seater and a lounge chair. The line was aptly named 'Boah' - from the initials of the passionate crusaders of the collaboration, Bo Overgaard and Anders Haaning.

The Boah sofa, with the modern expression and clean lines, remains light with the delicate frame and the fine Crisp fabrics of the upholstery. There is a cheeky, streamlined, almost Italian feel to the design, while still living up to the comfort and high standards of the Bruunmunch brand.

And the sofa is the first product designed by Bruunmunch exclusively for Illums Bolighus, in close collaboration with the top management of one of Denmark's leading furniture stores, and more products will follow.

- I was pleasantly surprised by the way the design process unfolded. Bo Overgaard and Anders Haaning are very professional and very aware of what they want. I'm honoured by the attention that the sofa is getting, now that it's been chosen to celebrate 75th anniversary of Illums Bolighus, owner Jacob Munch says.

- I have a feeling that Illums Bolighus and Bruunmunch are going to be a strong team, and I'm looking very much forward to developing more products, so that one day we will be able to present a complete Illums Bolighus Collection by Bruunmunch, he concludes.
