Village and Staffan Holm for AW16

Close to nature and never far from home, Village continues to create collections with the heart of its Scandinavian origins and focus on classic craftsmanship

Swedish design firm Village has created a stunning autumn collection in collaboration with award-winning designer Staffan Holm. Together they have developed a collection that includes three new materials - glass, cast iron and limestone.

Natural materials are the core of Village. Just as the passion for the craft, eye for detail and care for the environment.

- In terms of shape, the autumn collection follows in the footsteps of Scandinavian elegance with a strong contemporary tone. We are always careful to allow the craftsmen to take their time, because only then can we present something we are really proud of, says John Mörlid, CEO of parent company On Interior.

Swedish designer Staffan Holm is behind many of the innovations of the collection. Staffan Holm has won numerous awards for his design, including The Nordic Design Prize 2009 for his Newton table and Bruno Mathsson's Prize for Sweden's most promising young designers.

- Traditional crafts are an important part of my creation, and that is why working with Village felt so right. In my creative work I explore things that clash - modern and classic, shiny and matte or bowl-shaped with straight. I like to push the boundaries, says Staffan Holm.

Staffan Holm and Village have created products in three new materials - a vase in glass, bowl and candlestick in cast iron and a platter in limestone. In the Village autumn collection is also a stool in European Ash that is signed by Staffan Holm.

- I have found inspiration in anything from Scandinavian peasant society to British Shaker and Japanese crafts. Smart, simple solutions that in old times made life easier for hard-working people who lived in a limited space, says Staffan Holm.

In the autumn collection you can also find organic wool blankets made of natural-colored Swedish wool, genuine wood products such as cutting boards and shelves made of European Ash and leather products in Swedish tanned leather, such as an apron, pot holder and seat cushion. The collection also includes a small series of concrete products with leather details signed designer Anna Christians.

Village autumn collection will be available at selected retailers throughout Europe from October.
