Mater opens five new concept stores

London, Oslo and Munich are just some of the cities on the map for Danish design company Mater

For several years, Henrik Marstrand has had a dream. As CEO and founder of the design company Mater, he has a strong focus on sustainability and good craftsmanship. And Mater has to stand out on the design scene. Backed by big investor, the dream is now becoming reality at record speed.

For the next two years, Mater opens up to five Mater Earth Galleries in European metropolitan areas. And here customers will not only be able to see some of over 30 news that Mater is going to launch next year:

- It will be a mix between a showroom aimed at architects, a physical store - and beyond in an online universe. Of course, you can buy Mater's own design, but we will also select a range of exciting brands that chip into our sustainable profile and focus on high quality. It could be, for example, recycled plastic sneakers, natural-ingredient creams, or bags with a good story, says Henrik Marstrand.

The first Mater Earth Gallery has just been opened in a former car workshop at Glentevej 47 in the northwest of Copenhagen. In the raw surroundings you will also be able to buy selected products of fashion, interior and beauty - primarily with Nordic inspiration.

- We are primarily looking for brands that are not mainstream. But some ethical products from the big brands could be lucky to get through the net, if it makes sense. The point is that you will always be able to find something special with us - exactly as with Maters own design. And we see it as an added bonus if we can help upcoming companies, says Henrik Marstrand.

The next Mater Earth Gallery opens in London in 2018. The ambition is to open Mater Earth Galleries in Oslo, Stockholm and Munich within the next two years.
