New Asian fusion restaurant IBU meets the calm and elegant visual concept of Ferm Living, turning the restaurant into a place in which you want to linger

Copenhagen may be known and loved for its experiments in the Nordic food scene, but a new restaurant with inspiration in the Malaysian cuisine just saw the light.

In the heart of the borough Vesterbro in Copenhagen, Ferm Living has collaborated with head chef Henrik Jyrk, designing his new Restaurant IBU. IBU invites to an evening with Asian fusion dining in the surroundings of our visual concept, uniting the bright and the earthy, the grand scale and the small details, the classic and contemporary.

IBU moved into a modest space, so it had the intimacy from the start. The aim was to underline it, making distinctive corners and special areas in the small room that meet the needs of different parties and moods. There’s the intimate little table for the date; a large round table for the big dinner party; and a seat at the bar, where you get to experience the magic in the kitchen in a shared experience with the other guests.

- A restaurant can be something significantly different from home, but we wanted to create a space that had some of the same elements. We set out to create an atmosphere that feels nice, welcoming, and comfortable, says Trine Andersen, founder and creative director of Ferm Living.

A comfortable mood characterises the restaurant with dim lights and little details. The decoration and design didn’t just focus on tables where people could sit and eat, but on surroundings in which they felt the need to linger.
